Using the SX500 while wearing polarized sunglasses:
All outdoor readable Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD’s) have varying types of polarizing filters that are designed to maximize the readability of the LCD display in various lighting conditions. Each manufacturer of the LCD uses the type of polarization filter that is optimized for their particular display and the normal orientation the display will be used. The SX500 LCD has filter layers designed that provide the best performance for the LCD. Major brands of sunglasses are typically polarized in order to reduce glare reflected from horizontal surfaces such as land and water. Some aviation sunglasses may not be polarized because of potential readability issues with cockpit instrumentation LCD’s. The SX500 LCD has been tested with all major brands of polarized sunglasses and is visible outdoors with those sunglasses. There may be a slight apparent darkening of the display when turned horizontally depending on the type of polarization direction of the respective sunglasses. Most sunglasses are vertically polarized, however some are polarized 45 degrees. Each will behave slightly differently with the SX500 display. Various SkyCaddie products may have different LCD’s and polarization methods optimized for the respective product LCD.
This is not a reason for a return as there is no issue with our hardware.

Depending on your round time, you should be able to get up to 14 hours or 3 rounds of golf in on a full charge. The SX500 has the largest battery in the industry so it should be ready for extended playing time, that emergency 9, or even 18 more holes.
What is the Pro Front?
The ‘Pro Front Mark’ is a static point on the green and does not move when you change your angle of approach to the green. The pro front represents the closest point of the green when viewed from the most common angle of approach.
For example, imagine playing a hole in regulation and think of your approach shot into the green. On a par 3 you would approach the green from the tee, on a par 4 it’s from the middle of the fairway and on a par 5 it’s from a layup zone in the fairway. The Pro front mark is the first point on the front of the green which is closest to these ideal approach positions.
Why is it important?
In order to provide a tournament pin sheet to players in a professional event, the event’s tournament director will use the Pro Front as the static reference point to pace off from when setting the pins for a tournament. For example, in order to mark 9 paces on, 6 from the left, there must be a starting point.
SkyCaddie uses the same methodology as the main Tours when locating the pro front mark on a green. SkyCaddie then uses this ‘Pro Front Mark’ for its SkyPin Sheets and to assist in adding pin locations directly into products such as the SkyCaddie SX500 and SX400.
On a SkyCaddie SX400/500, Pro Front is shown this way as a red and white circle icon on the green.
When Pro Front is enabled in the settings of the SX500 or SX400, and the course you are playing has been mapped with the Pro Front Mark, an additional distance will be displayed on the IntelliGreen screen in the lower left corner marked with the red and white circle icon.
SkyCaddie will now display the dynamic front/center/back distances based on your current location and approach angle to the green as well as a distance to the static Pro Front Mark.
Because the Pro Front is a static reference point which provides the front of the green distance based on the optimal approach angle to the green, It will vary from the dynamic front distance which is based on your current location’s approach angle to the green.
NOTE: Pro Front Mark is not enabled on all SkyGolf courses
